Prof. Gastorn currently serves as the Deputy Attorney General from September 2023.https://www.agctz.go.tz/

Prof. Gastorn holds a doctorate in law from the University of Bayreuth in Germany (2007), as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania.Prof. Gastorn served as Secretary-General of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) in New Delhi, India, beginning in 2016 - 2020.  He previously served as National Convenor for the Rule of Law Forum of his country’s International Development Law Organization from 2015 to 2017.He also served as Director of International Affairs of the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and the immediate past Head of the Department of Public Law, University of Dar es Salaam School of Law. He was also a member of the National Environmental Advisory Committee in the Vice President’s Office United Republic of Tanzania.
