Prof. Sist Joseph Mramba is an advocate of the High Court and subordinate courts thereto and a member of the Tanganyika Law Society-the private Bar Association of Mainland Tanzania. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree -LL.B (Hons.) from the University of Dar es Salaam and a Master of Laws degree (LL.M) in Environmental Law from the University of Kwazulu Natal (Formerly Natal University) and a Ph.D. from the University of Dar es Salaam. He has vast experience in Land Law and Conveyancing and has taught in various Universities in the country for over 20 years. He has researched and written extensively on diverse areas of law namely; Land Law, Conveyancing, Environmental Law, Human Rights, Planning Law, Law of Tort and Labour Law. His authored books include: Land Law in Tanzania: Theory and Practice; Disposition of Land in Tanzania: Law and Procedure; Labour Law and the Practice in Tanzania: Cases and Materials; Principles of Law of Torts in Tanzania: Text and Cases; and Urban Planning and Development Law in Tanzania: A focus on Law and Procedure.

Prof. Mramba was the Head of Department of Practical Legal Training and Chief Editor of the LST Law Review Journal. He previously served as the Dean of Faculty of Law at the Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College. Furthermore, Prof Mramba has been a consultant to the Government, Non-governmental organizations and international entities such as; GIZ, AUDA-NEPAD, Oxford Land Management Policy, COWI, USAID, LANDESA, and the World Bank. He is currently the Principal and Secretary to the Governing Board of the LST.
