Our Staff
Dr. Julius Clement Mashamba holds an LL.B (Hons.) from the University of Dar es Salaam, an LL.M. (Socio-Economic Rights) and a Ph.D. (Comparative Juvenile Justice) from the Open University of Tanzania. He also holds a Certificate in Conflict Management from the Danish Fellowship Centre/MIRO Consult; and Certificates in Human Rights from the Canadian Human Rights Foundation (now, Equitas) and the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR).
Dr. Mashamba is now serving as a member of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) of the African Union (2010-2020); and is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Law School of Tanzania. He is also an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania. He has published widely in juvenile justice, criminology, child justice, children’s rights, labour law, alternative dispute resolution, human rights, fraud law, women’s rights and constitutional law. Some of his recent books include: Introduction to Family Law in Tanzania (nola/IPPL, 2010); Judicial Protection of Civil and Political Rights in Tanzania: Cases, Materials and Commentary (nola/IPPL, 2010); Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Tanzania: Law and Practice (Mkuki na Nyota Publishers, 2014); Child Rights and the Law in East Africa (co-authored with Prof Mohammed S. Hussain) (LawAfrica Publishers, 2014); Arbitration Law and Practice in Tanzania (Theophilus Publishers, 2015); and Annotated Civil Procedure and Practice in the Court of Appeal of Tanzania (LawAfrica Publishers, 2015).
